Your first marriage didn’t work out, but now you have found the real man of your dreams and you can’t wait to start your life together as husband and wife.
Other than finding the one who completes you, there is one major advantage of getting married a second time: Experience. You’re older, you’re wiser, you know what you want, and you know what your taste is. With all of that said, you may not know what to wear for your second wedding. With so many wedding dress options, what do you pick? The answer is simple: Anything you want!
Your second wedding is the perfect time to wear a gown that really speaks to you, your relationship, and your taste. Not sure where to begin? Here are some tips to help you find the perfect gown for your second wedding.
Think Outside the Box
Have you always been intrigued by the idea of wearing a pink, red, or maybe even a blue gown? Well, now’s the time to rock that color!
There’s no rule that says you have to wear white – especially if it’s your second time walking down the aisle. Go ahead and try on that lilac, turquoise or black gown – you may be surprised by how much you love it!
Go Retro!
Take it back to the days of old and wear a retro-styled gown! Perhaps you’re second wedding is going to be a garden party held in the afternoon; a tea length gown with lace and satin would look incredible! Maybe your event is going to be a swanky evening affair with passed hours devoirs and signature cocktails; a sheath dress with tons of bling (a la the 1970s) would make the perfect statement!
Skip the Veil
You wore a veil for your first wedding, but you don’t know if you’re feeling it for your second one. Cool! Just like there’s no rule saying you have to wear a white gown, there’s no rule that says you have to wear a veil, either!
Trade in the veil for a stunning antique hair clip, or a beautiful fresh flower tucked behind your ear. You will look absolutely beautiful while you’re walking down the aisle.
Nix the Train
You had the cathedral-length train for your first trip down the aisle; now you want to wear something a little less formal and a little more you. Pass on the train and instead, opt for something without a train, or perhaps choose a gown that has hemline that varies in length.
Or Train it Up!
Or, if you prefer, you can wear a gown with a train! Wear a gown that has a train that pours out of the door while you’re standing up at the front of the aisle, if you want to!
Fashion Forward
Your second wedding is the perfect occasion to wear that high style, fashion forward gown that you have always dreamed of wearing, but have never had an event to wear it to. Get that designer gown that you adore and rock it while you’re walking down the aisle and dancing the night away!
Don’t go Bridal
Sure, you’re going to be a bride, but you don’t have to wear a bridal gown! Wear something that you fall in love with, even if it isn’t labeled a wedding gown. The important thing here is that you wear something that you absolutely love, and that makes you feel amazing! You are the bride, and you can do whatever you want!
The most important thing to remember when shopping for your second wedding dress is to choose something that makes YOU feel special and that YOU love!
